In November 2001 my western medicine doctor diagnosed me as having Fibromyalgia, a chronic, progressive disease with no cure. The treatment is ever increasing doses of narcotic pain medicines.

In June 2003 I started a 3 month course of treatments with Dr. Steven Smith. I was, at that time, taking 13 to 15 doses per day of Vicodin, Tylenol 3 and Percocet to control pain. In the early nineties my primary care physician wanted to start me on a thyroid medication.
